More Skill Doesn't Fix Being Invisible
Developers prep for the next job with more certs, more side projects, more LeetCode. If the real problem is that the right people don't know what you can do, more skill doesn't fix it. Ask who needs to know what you already know.
A lot of developers are preparing for the next job by doing more of what got them the last one.
More certs. More side projects. More LeetCode. A cleaner resume.
None of those things are bad.
But if the real problem is that the right people don’t know what you’re capable of, more skill doesn’t automatically fix that. You can become a significantly better developer and still be just as invisible six months from now.
That’s the part I think a lot of developers are missing right now.
The career game is changing. Technical skill still matters, a lot. But so does whether people can see your work, understand the value of it, and connect your name to the kinds of problems you want to solve.
